Utah State Correctional Facility

The Utah State Correctional Facility is the largest construction project in the state's history. The complex spans over 170 acres, comprises 33 buildings and accommodates 3,750 inmates of all classifications. With dedicated units for both females and males, separated by a barrier, and offers expansion capability. The facility includes mental health housing, substance abuse treatment, medical facilities, classrooms, a kitchen, laundry, religious spaces, and room for future expansion.

Iowa Correctional Institution for Women
Mitchellville, IA
Value: $68 Million
Launched in 2010, the ICIW consolidates all of the state’s female inmates in one facility. The project comprised the renovation of five buildings and the construction of six new ones, along with various site improvements. The 888-bed facility includes medium/minimum as well as maximum security housing. The new prison includes a health service building with a 48-bed mental health unit, a 64-bed special needs unit, a 36-bed assisted living unit, a 10-bed medical recovery unit, two hospice beds, and a 48-bed orientation unit for new offenders. A minimum-security unit outside the fence expanded from 92 to 120 beds. Two new dining halls, an administration building and visiting room, a 256-bed general population building, and more space for treatment programs and education.
The New Correctional Facility at Westville
Westville, IN
Value: $1.2 Billion
The 1.4 million square foot project located in Westville Indiana, will replace the current Westville Correctional Facility, and consolidate with the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City. It will house up to 4,200 inmates. The campus design consists of 28 buildings (4 set for renovation) totaling approximately 1.4 million SF. There will be 18,000 square feet of educational space and expanded vocations training opportunities, including HVAC, RV repair, automotive services, culinary arts, and food service. Dedicated classroom space for re-entry and post-incarceration employment preparation. A dedicated mental health unit designed specifically to address the needs of this growing population.
